All undergraduate students must complete 40 credits in General Education. Designed to foster well-educated critical thinkers and global citizens, the program includes required and elective courses in writing, mathematics and analytics, science, foreign languages, arts and humanities, and the social sciences. Through these courses, students enhance their self-awareness, academic and problem-solving skills, civic awareness, and intercultural knowledge. The General Education program exposes students to a range of disciplines in the Arts and Sciences, which can serve as a context for their studies in their discipline. In addition, the program, and in general, the whole of the University’s undergraduate program, strives to enhance students’ appreciation of the diversity of cultural, ethnic, and professional settings in which they may live and work in the future. The Hellenic American University program in Psychology is revised to keep current with emerging developments in the field. Students have the opportunity to work closely with psychology faculty members on field placements and research projects.
The Strengths of the Undergraduate Psychology Program
Students in the BSPSY program benefit from the Extensive integration of psychological theory and research methods. Opportunity for hands-on practical experience at various community internship sites, under close supervision. A wide spectrum of electives, including Clinical Psychology, Principles of Psychotherapy, Child Psychopathology, Neuropsychology, Play Therapy, Psychology of Addictions, Music Therapy, and seminars in the area of social and multi-cultural psychology. Cognitive behavioral program orientation, with the exploration of other approaches to psychotherapy and counseling. The Senior Capstone project, in which students design, conduct, analyze and write up an original research project. Faculty mentoring and personal support for your academic and professional development. Career counseling and opportunities for networking through our Career Development Office during and after your studies.
