Profile
The practice-oriented interdisciplinary master programme imparts specialised knowledge concerning the application of computer simulations in a variety of engineering operations.Numerical simulation methods and improved multi-media strategies play an ever more important role in engineering studies especially in view of the considerably increased performance of computers. Ultimately, it is a matter of dependable prognoses of the efficiency, security, and durability of building construction, ecosystems, and units in civil engineering and, consequently, it is also a matter of the computer-based optimisation of technical systems with regard to design and planning relevant criteria. The programme comprises topics from simulations in tunnelling, durability prognoses for buildings to numerical analyses of pollutant dispersal in the ground. In these respects, computer simulations are increasingly replacing empirical design methods and often very high-cost pilot projects or laboratory tests.
