Profile
Quantum physics forms the basis for new, revolutionary technologies and establishes a new qualification profile at the interface between natural and engineering sciences: quantum engineering. The master’s course aims to provide both research and application-oriented training in modern quantum technologies, which attaches particular importance to the interdisciplinary system concept. It imparts the ability to work scientifically as well as in-depth knowledge for the technological implementation of research results. Graduates of the course are uniquely qualified to carry ideas from the research laboratories into the development departments of industry. The Master’s Quantum Engineering offers an interdisciplinary education between basic natural sciences, especially physics, and application-oriented engineering sciences, especially systems engineering. The course aims to research, develop and implement quantum technologies. Students can set individual priorities for a more theoretical, experimental or applied profile. The students take courses from the core areas of quantum physics and systems engineering and deepen them in subject-specific elective subjects, seminars and internships that can be selected from a wide range of courses. The elective courses serve to further deepen, the practical implementation and the acquisition of interdisciplinary scientific competences, for example in economics modules or language courses. In addition, students can work as a tutor in their studies. A laboratory project with an associated project seminar serves as an introduction to the master’s thesis, which is written in close cooperation with a working group.
