Levanger
About the City
The small town is located on the Trondheimsfjord, the same body of water that touches the Trondheim city center. Living in the city, it’s sometimes easy to forget that the fjord is one of Norway’s biggest. The town is part of Trøndelag, the vast county that covers much of central Norway. As such, it’s well served by public transport. The primary form is the Trøndelag commuter line (Trønderbanen) that links the major towns of Trøndelag with Trondheim and the international airport.
The compact center of town is known for its old timber buildings, helping Levanger retain a traditional charm. It certainly gives the town a unique identity. One of the main streets has been partly pedestrianized, and there are a couple of parks and other green spaces dotted around.
