About the City
With a population of 175,000, Odense is the third largest city in Denmark and the main city of the island of Funen. Odense is famous for being the birthplace of Hans Christian Anderson, the famous fairy-tale writer. The city is very green, with lots of parks and gardens to explore and relax in. It is easy to see how such an environment could inspire the magic of fairy tales.
Throughout the year, there are over 270 events and festivals to take part in. There are also plenty of attractions worth seeing, such as the Egeskov castle and Funen village. Other Danish cities are not far away either. Copenhagen and Aarhus are just over an hour away by train.
