About the City
A natural metropolis of southeast Moravia, a statutory city, a university seat, and the center of the Zlín Region—all this is today’s Zlín. The city became world famous at the beginning of the 20th century thanks to Bata shoe factories, which later carried the name Svit. It’s also famous for its unique functionalist architecture and its dynamic rate of growth over the past ten years.
Zlín remains open to new investment offers and interest from new entrepreneurs that will find both business partners and a qualified workforce, which is important for development and production. Zlín’s Tomáš Baťa University trains managers and specialists, mainly in technological and economic fields. The specific training offered by high schools includes construction, machining, chemistry, electrical technology, and economics. Zlín is the seat of traditional development and research institutes and workplaces, of which many have become famous throughout the world.
