Data Science

The master’s programme Data Science aims at a strong international embedding in research and specialization opportunities in a range of science disciplines. Data Science deals with large, heterogeneous data (big data) from different application areas, in order to obtain valuable findings and meaningful and actionable information to generate actionable information. Tasks in Data Science include obtaining a thorough understanding of the problem domain (Business Undestanding), processing and fusion of heterogeneous data from different sources (Data Gathering), analysis and statistical modelling of the Data (Data Analytics) to interactive visualization of the data (Visual Analytics) and the use of the results (Decision Support and Deployment). This curriculum conveys and integrates competences from the fields of information technology, mathematics as well as specific application disciplines.
