Profile
The aim of the English-language master’s program European Union Studies is to train students to become EU experts. The program, which is unique in Austria, provides extensive knowledge in the areas of European law, European Union politics and economics – qualifications with increasing relevance to the labor market. The master’s program is interdisciplinary and has a strong practical relevance. Excursions and special seminars offer insights into the daily work of the EU institutions and the opportunity to meet experts, as well as to work out and argue negotiating positions yourself in simulations and moot courts. An international study environment and attractive offers for stays abroad also promote international competence. Both the public and private sectors are now heavily influenced by European decisions. Their actors – such as companies, interest groups and wider civil society – must always assert their positions while taking into account the European level and its constantly evolving framework conditions. European Union Studies provides the necessary skills. It is an important complement to BA degrees in the social, humanities and natural sciences. The great demand from international students underlines the relevance of the degree to the labor market. Graduates open up various professional fields both in the public sector (parliaments, public administration, EU institutions up to the UN) and in companies, national and international organizations, etc.
