Since winter semester 2013/2014, the department has been offering the MA program “General Linguistics”. This academic program is especially tailored for graduates with a focus on linguistics in their first degrees. The core part of the program is taught in English. Linguistics in Bamberg is primarily empirically oriented. Students are encouraged to work on actual language data, from a wide variety of different languages, in particular lesser-known languages and varieties.

Admissions Requirements
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree with a major in linguistics courses and should be familiar with the fields of phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. Applicants from non-anglophone countries should provide proof of English proficiency. Application deadline for non-EU students is July 15 and January 15.
