Profile
Industrial engineers with a sound engineering understanding, creative mindset, and the drive to transform the energy sector are in high demand. This degree combines specialised industry-focused engineering with the required management skills and knowledge of policy and regulations around renewable energy to develop just these skills.
You’ll study Advanced Manufacturing, Renewable Resource Modelling & Assessment, and Renewable Systems, Applications, and Developments. You’ll combine these studies with Project Management, Law and Policy of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Technology, and International Regulations of the Energy Sector. Additionally, you’ll undertake a 12-week industrial-related project, offering exposure to industry and building up your practical experience and network within the UK and internationally.
We are working at the forefront of technology in high precision laser engineering of surfaces, renewable energy, and thermodynamic cooling technologies through our partnership with CERN. We also work closely with industry on materials printing for the energy sector, as well as continued casting of metals for various industrial processes. The outcomes of our research form a unique research and industry led teaching programme.
We invest heavily in your personal and professional development. We provide funding towards personal development, which is in addition to all the funded modules and teaching-related activities. You’ll visit leading international trade fairs, take part in industrial talks, and can register with professional bodies (IET – Institute for Engineering and Technology). We support your project or help with travel needs for industrial placements, building up your industrial network and a clear vision for your future career.
Our Industrial Engineering courses have one of the highest employability rates of the School of Science and Engineering: More than 70% of students began employment straight after their placement.
