Profile
Two countries, two universities and a double degree in information security!Master’s Programme in Security and Cloud Computing (SECCLO) is a two-year double degree programme that provides students with a broad understanding of the latest and future technologies for secure cloud and mobile computing systems. Students will gain both practical engineering knowledge and theoretical insights intosecure systems engineering, distributed application development, network and service architectures, andcloud and mobile platforms.SECCLO focuses on two specific aspects of modern computing systems: cloud computing, which in a broad sense means highly distributed and scalable computation and data storage in data centers as well as physically accessible devices, and information security, which means protection of computation, communication and data from unauthorized access. While cloud computing is a highly technical area that directly enables the implementation of modern ICT services, information security is a cross-cutting requirement that encompasses both technical and non-technical issues. The SECCLO programme is founded on the NordSecMob – Master’s Programme in Security and Mobile Computing (Erasmus Mundus) which had student intakes in 2006-2016.Study programmeThe first year of the Master’s programme will be provided by Aalto University. During the two semesters of courses (60 ECTS), studies will cover the fundamental concepts, methods and the latest technologies on secure systems engineering, distributed application development, network and service architectures, ubiquitous computing, and cloud and mobile computing platforms. The first year of studies is concluded by a summer school and a summer internship. For the second year, students transfer to their exit university where they are able to specialize (30 ECTS) inCommunications Systems Design (KTH, Sweden),Information Security (NTNU, Norway),Reliable Distributed Systems (DTU, Denmark),Cryptography (UT, Estonia) orBig Data Security (EURECOM, France). The fourth and final semester is dedicated to the thesis research and writing of the Master’s thesis (30 ECTS). The programme leads into two Master of Science degrees (double degree) from the two universities the student has studied in.
