Authorial Acting

The Authorial Acting program at DAMU is a unique and intensive two-year Master’s degree program that fosters the development of creative and independent performance makers.

• Focus on Authorship: Students are guided towards becoming self-sufficient artists capable of conceiving, creating, and performing their own theatrical works.
• Interdisciplinary Approach: The program draws from various disciplines including movement, voice, speech, acting, and theatre performance to cultivate a well-rounded foundation in creative expression.
• Emphasis on Psychosomatic Development: Students train to harness their body, voice, and mind as instruments for artistic exploration and communication in real-time.
• Exploration of Diverse Performance Styles: Students delve into solo and group work, incorporating elements of authorial reading, dialogical acting, and physical theatre.
• Theoretical Foundation: The program is enriched by coursework in philosophy, psychology, and theatre history, providing students with a strong theoretical framework for their artistic practice.
