The study primarily aims at the mediation of language in its instrumental function.
Goals of the study:
– active command of Czech at B2 level; the ability to communicate effectively in all everyday situations, the ability to produce and perceive professional texts pertaining student’s specialization, the ability to distinguish and partly use (in proper communicative situations) regional and social variants of the Czech language; – mediation of selected metalinguistic knowledge;
– building of philological awareness of the Czech literature;
– building the ability to interpret Czech literary texts;
– building the ability to set a linguistic or literary phenomenon in a broader context of Czech history and culture;
– building the awareness of the principles of functioning of Czech civic society;
– support the development of critical thinking the students will apply during their participation in the study programme and also in future, in their academic studies and professional lives;
– building the ability to communicate in English.
Notes
Other requirements: Passing a one-year study of Czech studies at a university abroad (acknowledgement of student's status, study results from previous studies and teacher's recommendation letter) or passing an intensive course in Czech language in the Czech Republic (pass certificate, teacher's recommendation letter).
Entrance exam in Czech (level A1, written test and oral exam).
