Aimed at giving you a solid foundation in engineering while allowing you a little extra time to decide exactly which area of engineering you would like to study. The degree options from the common entry Engineering degree are:
- Sustainable Energy Engineering
- Sustainable Civil Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Automation Engineering
There are many types of Engineering, all of which are focussed on making a better world. Studying Engineering can lead to exciting career prospects and top salaries across a wide range of industries.
Engineers are shaping the future by applying their skills to almost everything you can think of, from medical to transport, sustainable energy to food production, robotics to construction, clean water to 3D printing. There really is no limit to what Engineers can do.
The common engineering honours entry scheme is for students interested in engineering as a career, but who may be unsure of which discipline to follow.
Notes
For EU: first time undergraduate students pursuing a full time programme will qualify for free tuition fee funding, however, please refer to http://www.studentfinance.ie for full details of the “Free Fees Initiative” ( F.F.I ) scheme. The Student Contribution Charge for the academic year 2023/2024 is €3,000. All third level undergraduate students are liable to pay this fee, unless they qualify for a SUSI grant.
Application deadline for EU students is February 1. There is a late closing date of 1st May but this is not available for all courses or for some categories of applicant. There is a special late closing date of 22nd July for all students currently registered in SETU Waterford or another HEI who wish to transfer to the first year of a different programme.
Admissions Requirements
Secondary/High School Diploma, with good grades in English and Mathematics and at least 4 other subjects, on average + 60%.
