Profile
As a forestry student, you will learn how to manage forests in environmentally sound ways. You will also understand how the different components of a forest; the trees, soils, water, climate, and wildlife, interact with each other and are affected by human requirements. Currently, 9% of Irish land is under forestry and the objective of the State is to increase this to 17% by 2030. The objectives of this degree are to: Equip you with the education and skills to enable you to provide leadership within the forestry professionHelp you develop an overall view of forests with regards to their ecological, economic, socio-cultural, environmental, and utilization functions. provide you with the scientific basis for the balanced management of forest resources that is consistent with the principle of sustainability. This course will help you develop the ability to think analytically and provide you with the knowledge necessary for professional decision-making in forestry and related disciplines. This degree equips you with skills in the areas of computer applications, information technology, communications, and professional development.
Notes
The Student Contribution Charge is €2,000.Please note that to be eligible for the Free Fees scheme students must first qualify for the EU fee rate. Application deadline for EU students is February 1.
Admissions Requirements
High School Diploma without standardized exams 3.75 / 4.0 GPA or with standardized exams 3.33 / 4.0 GPA and 1000 SAT or 20 ACT. Additional Requirements: Math: A in senior year HS math class with 4 years of math taken or 530 in maths section of SAT or 21 in maths ACT or D in college/university math class; Lab Science: B- in senior year HS lab science course or AP Science 2 or D in college/university lab science class.
