Modern Theatre Dance

The Modern Theatre Dance (MTD) program at the Amsterdam University of the Arts is a four-year, pre-professional training program designed to develop versatile and expressive dancers. The curriculum focuses on a comprehensive exploration of contemporary dance techniques, along with a strong foundation in academic dance.

Students delve into various contemporary dance styles, including Graham, Limon, Cunningham, Gaga, and release-based techniques. They also refine their classical ballet skills to enhance their overall movement vocabulary.

The program emphasizes performance creation and exploration. Students collaborate with renowned choreographers and participate in regular performance opportunities.

MTD goes beyond pure dance. Students explore the relationship between dance and other art forms, delving into voice, acting, improvisation, and composition.
