The Atlantic Technological University Sligo’s Software Development (BSc Hons) program equips students with the skills and knowledge to thrive in the ever-evolving software industry.

Learning by doing is a core principle. The program features extensive hands-on lab work where students design and develop software solutions, gaining practical experience. Students delve into the entire software development lifecycle, from design and coding to implementation and testing. Courses cover advanced programming languages, machine learning, artificial intelligence, software security, and user experience (UX) design.
The program integrates a work placement in the third year, allowing students to gain valuable real-world experience in a professional setting. ATU Sligo invests heavily in cutting-edge computer labs and equipment, ensuring students have access to the latest technology for learning and development. The new high-tech teaching labs provide a dynamic learning environment. ATU Sligo was the first program in Ireland to teach Microsoft .NET technologies. They hold the distinction of being the only third-level institute in Ireland to win the prestigious Microsoft World Imagine Cup.

"Ireland bases its tuition rates on residence (3 of the last 5 years living in the EU) despite whether you're an EU citizen or not. In other words, only those who have resided in an EU country 3 of the last 5 years are eligible for the discounted rates."
Admissions Requirements
High School Diploma with a minimum GPA of 3.0 plus: SAT score of 1000+ (1800 prior to 2016) or ACT composite score of 22 and above or 2-3 Advanced Placement Examinations in relevant subjects with grades 3 and above OR 2-3 SAT subject tests in relevant subjects with a minimum score of 600 in each.
