KIT (Royal Tropical Institute)

KIT Royal Tropical Institute is an independent centre of expertise, education and hospitality dedicated to sustainable development. Guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, KIT’s knowledge work focuses on global health, gender and sustainable economic development.

KIT’s education offering comprises a graduate programme in global health, advanced courses for health professionals, a gender training programme, and a variety of training and capacity development services in other areas of its expertise.

KIT’s hospitality business includes a conference centre, hotel and restaurant, which are all run on a sustainable basis. KIT also has a museum and library, which are open to the public.

KIT is located in a national heritage site in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was founded in 1864 and has a long history of working in developing countries. KIT’s partners include governments, NGOs, businesses and academic institutions.
